I’m pressing pause.

At the end of July I’ll be ending my contract with the company I have been working for (and then contracting to) for nearly 4 years.

I won’t be publishing this until I have completed my notice period and officially left.

It has taken me months of reflection, hours of discussion with my (incredibly supportive) partner and a whole lot of trust in myself and the universe to get here.

I love the company and the team I work with. I am not ashamed to say I’ve cried thinking about leaving them. It’s part of the reason it took so long to get here.

Over the last months I have been on a bit of a journey to reconnect with myself. I wish there was a way to say that without conjuring the image of some faux-spiritual influencer who just did yoga for the first time.

Speaking of influencers, I have to say this decision has been made scarier by the constant messaging around hustle culture and the pressure to be at 100% energy 100% of the time. But I have to be honest, that’s just not realistic for me. At least not now.

I’ll be spending some time with friends and family, looking after my mental health and maybe writing a little more.

Right now, the most important thing for me to do is rest and refocus.

So I’m pressing pause.
